Even after “Update glyph info” and “Update glyph metrics” have been applied numerous times to all masters, I still get the error icons indicating that my inferior and superior figures are “Out of sync”.
These glyphs have been generated from my “Small Figure” glyphs, which has been my long-time practice in Glyphs 3 with no issues.

I am unfamiliar with this "“Small Figure” glyphs approach. Is that the .sm glyphs? I created some .sm glyphs and it looks like is added components based on the decimal digits. Is there documentation or a tutorial. I’v searched and found nothing in the handbook, but I may be using poor search terms.
Small glyphs are e.g. super and subscript glyphs. You usually have on set of those numbers and use those as components to build the rest. Those components need to be moved vertically but be aligned horizontally.

mackleys, as I recall, I heard about this from our own, and helpful, Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer. Mekkablue. You make one set of small numbers that you point to as source for all of your numr, sups, etc. It makes fractions a breeze.
Thanks, I was using the mekkablue scripts: Build Glyphs > Build Small Figures script for that. I had not considered making canonical small figures set (e.g. /1–/9.sm) as the base set for that. Interesting.

this has nothing to do with the .sm glyphs. you can use any of the existing figures are base, pick the one that is closes to the baseline.
