Has this always been like this, and if so, is this intentionally, that if I copy glyphs without a background to another master that have a background with these settings, it will clear the background from the target layers?
I find this neither intuitive/expected (it explicitly says “Content of Active Layer” (not Background) nor useful, as I think a common use case is to keep a master’s drawings in the background as a reference when adding another master’s drawings to the master.
Is there a quick workaround without the need of writing a script just to circumvent bg clearing?
If I remember correctly, yes, it had always cleared the background, which I also find unpractical. But the background is not a “layer” per say (as Glyph displays layer I mean). It would be nice to have the background as another option to enable/disable in the list.
