Pasting from illustrator not on the exact spot

Hi All, I am new to the software.

I have done all my letters (kerning too) and about to add my ligature, when I paste from illustrator, the letters did not paste on the same level anymore, please see screenshot, the “tt” on the lower level is my ligature. can someone give guidance please, did I do something wrong before or have not done something? I use the same square box with the ligature in illustrator and paste to Glyphs. Would love to know how to paste it on the same level, Thank you in advance for the advice.

That’s close to impossible because illustrator has one coordinate system per document, whereas in a font you need to have one coordinate system per glyph. You would have to reset your coordinate system in illustrator every time. More details in the illustrator tutorial on the Learn page.

Best to work in Glyphs right away if you want precision.
