Postscript name issue.

I am testing my typeface through Fontspector, and this FAIL message comes up. (I included a picture of it below.)

The message pretty much explains what the issue is. In some apps, instead of just “Rolesville,” I get Rolesville-Thin. It’s saying the PostScript name is wrong. I am making a 9-weight typeface (100-900). My font file has three masters: Thin, Medium, and Black, with interpolated instances in between.

I tried to research this, but I don’t understand it.

Can someone tell me what settings I need to add or adjust in my font file to fix this issue?

Thanks.

I saw your post on typedrawers. I’m curious about the answers there, myself.

I would say that the font bakery test is wrong. The default instance should be whatever your default master is. In your case the Thin master. And then the postScript name should be “Rolesville-Thin” and not “Rolesville” or “Rolesville-Regular”.

So I should just ignore this warning?

Yes, AFAIK this can be ignored. What profile did you use when testing? There are some profiles that have specific requirement that are not generally applicable.

I used Universal (community best practices).

Then I need to look into this.
