Gents,
Since I usually post here to complain about something not working, I wanted to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU for something that works, and works fantastically. The new Filter > Extrude tool.
In the past, I’ve created this effect through a laborious process of offsetting, overlapping and redrawing. A request to update one of these fonts with additional characters led to a recommendation to try Fontlab’s 3D Extrude feature, and this was the ugly, nearly unuseable result:
Ew.
So I’m back in Glyphs, looking forward to a day of offsetting, overlapping and redrawing, when I notice a new item in the Filter menu… “Extrude”. And how does it do?
What? It’s perfect.
Even with complicated overapped shapes like this:
Incredible. The job is done in a matter of seconds.
Well done, y’all. And thank you.
John
