Problem with unmatched Glyph naming in 2.0 vs 3.0 version

I got two variable files - one that I designed few years ago with G2 and the recent one, a condensed version, in G3. I tried to merge them into one file but the problem with glyph naming occurred.

Glyphs are being merged together as they should apart from some of the cyrillic characters (Iu-cy, Ia-cy, iu-cy, ia-cy, Gheupturn-cy, gheupturn-cy).

I noticed that in the new version of the app the ones above are named differently (Yu-cy, Ya-cy, Geupturn-cy) although the unicode stays the same.
I am adding screenshots too.

I am not sure what the solution could be here but I realised that might be something worth mentioning. Is it the bug wishing the app? Is there any way around it so I don’t have to copy the shapes by hand?

Best,
Ola

Not sure I understand what exactly the problem is. Just syncing the glyph names? Here’s how:

  1. Open the old file.
  2. Select all glyphs.
  3. Glyph > Update Glyph Info, this should update the glyph names.
  4. Now merge with the new file.

And before you do that, make sure Font Info > Other > Use custom naming is disabled, otherwise updating glyph info will not update the names.
