Question about DisableAllAutomaticBehaviour

Quick questions about the DisableAllAutomaticBehaviour custom parameter: I’m not sure I fully understand the Handbook on this particular point. Are the 2 actions listed the only ones disabled with this parameter? Is the complete list of AutomaticBehaviour available somewhere (this one might be very long, I guess)?

DisableAllAutomaticBehaviour

boolean Will disable most of the automatic stuff on export.

  • reordering .notdef and space
  • zero widths for nonspacing marks

Thanks

PS: For context, I tend to disable some automatic behaviour to be more in charge of choices during production. But I do find the automation of zero widths for nonspacing marks interesting.

Don’t use this parameter then. Which choices do you want to take during export?

What I meant was that I use custom parameters for things like Vertical Metrics, alignment zones, etc. during font production (which is what they are intended for). I like a complete view of where items will be placed in the tables and what occurs during exports. I think the automation offered by Glyphs is nice, but I also like to know what’s going on and pick what should be custom and what should stay like it is.

I don’t have as many technical skills as lots of people on this forum. Still, I understand things when they’re explained (and this is the case for many many topics in Glyphs!), which is why I asked for clarification about the phrase “most of the automatic stuff on export”.

You can analyze the exported font in third party apps like Font Table Viewer.

What do you want to change or take control of?
