I am working on a color font. I started with four masters and along the way I converted the masters to layers. Since then a fair amount of work has been done on it.
I was wondering if it is possible to convert the layers back to masters ?

This is how the file is currently set up:
I would like to have each color layer (0-3) as a master layer. I want to make to make each layer stand alone.
There is no build in functionality to do that. You need to write a script for that.
Do you happen to know someone that might have a similar script ?
I don’t know. But some LLM will write you that script in no time.
Good opportunity to do this the first time 
I used Chatgtp to give me a script and it worked

There actually are scripts for that in the mekkablue scripts. Look in the Color Fonts submenu.
I had a look and could find the one that was working for. Or I may have overlooked. But I pretty much tried all
