Round font: how to control overshoot?

Good day,

is there a way to control the overshoot when you make a round typeface?
I am using filters which work great for curves but I lack control of the overshoot of the curves. What am I missing?

The option to show the horizontal metric in the lower preview window would be handy.

The vertical metrics in the preview could be implemented with a reporter plugin.

The Round Font filter doesn’t have an option to control its overshoot. I think it does make a pretty good job of preserving the visual strength of the original stroke. But I can see that it might be useful to overwrite that.

The filters are absolutely great! But sometimes I need to tweak the original path to trigger the filter in a way that I lose control over the outcome (in terms over overshooting).

What do you mean?

I would love to show a clip but appearantly I cannot upload it.

I’ll try to explain: the filter does not always automatically render the curve. Sometimes I have to move a node until the filter recognizes it as a potential round ‘end’ and then renders it – see pics.

That is the same issue I mentioned above. Use 240 or 260 in the filter.

The file used 220 for the filter, but the actual uppercase stems are 240. So using the smaller value, skipped the longer sides in the diagonals. So you had a lot work and bracket layers because of a typo.
