Semantic Versioning System and Font versions

Hello,

Is there a technical reason why Glyphs app (perhaps more generally all fonts?) have a v1.000 format and not v1.0.0?

As you know, sem var is pretty standard practice: https://semver.org/

I am wondering if I can edit the tables and ship fonts with v1.0.0 format, would that break anything in terms of installing the exported fonts? In other words, does the format has to be v1.000 and not v1.0.0?

Answering my own question, I found this documentation in the opentype spec: OpenType font file (OpenType 1.9) - Typography | Microsoft Learn

I presume, Glyphs app is obeying the formats of OpenType specification.
