Does it have anything to do with
Master Icon Glyph Name custom parameter?
Please click on the icon in the upper right of the Master settings. There you can pick the icon. In version 1084, it should keep the setting from existing files.
My Bold and Black masters have indistinguishable master icons. When I set the Bold icon to something appropriate, it won’t be saved and will regress to the current situation when I open the file again. [1158]
