The manual hardly mentions automatic opentype features, just that the checkbox for automatic needs to be checked and that pressing the arrow should “start the process”. I have glyphs for ligatures and stylistic alternates named correctly, yet I check the box and click the arrow and nothing happens. Am I missing a step?
So you did click the circular arrow in the lower left corner?
How did you name the ligatures?

OK, I found the culprit.
I had two duplicate glyphs, f_f_l and f_f_l.liga. I removed the one with the .liga suffix, and voilá! now the features window shows all these options!
Thanks, actually reading the appendix clued me in that the .liga suffix was not really needed.
