I occasionally do a select all then update metrics when I’m working through a text - it seems to me more logical for the focus to remain on the carat and not shift to the first glyph. How does that sound to you? (it would dovetail nicely with a view whole text view

the focus is connected to the text selection. So if you Select All, the cursor has to move to the first glyph and the selection range set to cover the hole text. There is no way to storing the originally active glyph.
Understood - in that case how about a view all option? this really would save a lot of unnecessary clicking.
I’m not really sure what you mean. Can you explain what the “View All” option would do?
I mean an option that zooms out to show the entire contents of the text board.
