Superior vs. sups etc

What is the correct naming for the superscript and subscript figures („Small Figures“)?

A)) one.sups, two.sups / one.subs, two.subs
or
B)) onesuperior, twosuperior / oneinferior, twoinferior

The names with “superior/inferior” have a unicode and the can be accessed by typing them.

So you don’t need the .subs/.sups anymore – or they can be replaced by the “superior/inferior”?
