Symbol and greek map

Hallo everybody,
I’m creating a custom symbol and I started from original Symbol “save as”. I generate font but it doesn’t work as the original Symbol. I explain.
Original Symbol: I digit “a” QuarkXpress insert “alpha”. This is correct.
Custom font: I digit “a” QuarkXpress DOESN’t insert “alpha”. This is NOT correct.

Symbol font is very particular because doesn’t contain latin chars but only greek chars.

The mistery is: Why original Symbol when I digit “a” shows “alpha” and duplicate Symbol not?

Any suggestion?

Why not add the Greek letters in their respective Greek slots? And type them with the respective Greek keyboard layout, rather than with a Latin keyboard layout?
