Type tool not working

Hello!

I am Gabriela and and am very new to Glyphs! As I am watching tutorials to learn the software I see a lot of people using the type tool and typing anything they want but unfortunately for me this tool doesn’t work. Couldn’t find a solution online. I read some solutions on the same problem here on the forum but nothing works yet.
(I have the latest version of Glyphs)

Any suggestions?

Update! I figured out why the type tool wasn’t working. - It’s because I didn’t have any other glyphs in the font page except the one I am working on.

For glyphs that you can’t type, you can use the glyph selector (Cmd+F).
