Variable font not working - A crossbar

Hello,

I’m trying to export this variable font with 3 masters where the shape of the crossbar is the variable bit. However, when I move the slider on Illustrator nothing happens. It’s stuck on the first master (diamond crossbar).

I’ve tried adding variable font origin, pasting the shapes in a new glyphs file etc. Am I doing something wrong and missing a very obvious bit?

It works on FontGoggles! But why not illustrator?

Because Illustrator is a bit buggy with variable fonts. What version of Illustrator do you have?
