Variable Font Preview vs. Indesign

Hello.

I am working on a variable font with 3 axes (weight, stencil, stencil shaper = changes the look of the stroke).

The “Variable Font Preview” shows me the font perfectly and the functionality follows my idea, the export as VF is also without problems, but Indesign does not show the font correctly.
In Indesign the ‘Stencil Shaper’ parameter changes the size of the font instead the shape of the stroke.

I have created 4 masters to make this work. So far only a few letters (H, e, l, o) are ready, so I can test and proof … What am I doing wrong? Or is this due to Indesign?

Thanks.

With your master setup, you need to set the “Normal Stencil” as origin. Add a “Variable Font Origin” in the Font settings, and set it to “Normal Stencil”.

Wow! Great, it works, thank you very much for the hint.

I wonder if there is a more elegant way, but it probably needs 2 ‘Normal’ instances in this case?
