These extra outlines are partially editable inside edit windows for all masters and all characters. It has me at a standstill. Is there a feature I’ve activated that I’m not aware of?

My thin master outlines are showing and editable in the background layer of all masters, even though they were never placed there and cannot be deleted.
You have enabled the multi layer tool. Click and hold on the select tool in the toolbar and select the single arrow.
