Used Vertical Metrics Manager, all ascender values identical in script but then looking different in info (screenshot, winAscent value 1 instead of 1060).

Do you mean a script called “Vertical metrics manager”? Then you might better post this in the scripts repo?

Make sure you have the latest version.
There is an issue where the value entered, say 1060, gets localised to 1,060 and the script interprets that as 1 point 060. I thought I had fixed that. If not, yes a GitHub issue would be great.
