Anchor points on corner component

Hello folks, I’m trying to sort this out. I am working with corner components. So far I have managed to get them to work nicely in some letters but I don’t know where should I place these anchor points exactly so that they snap to the right position of the stem. Any ideas?

This better would be a cap component.

where can I read about cap components and how to use them? I am totally lost at the moment when placing the anchor points… and why should it be a cap component and not a corner component?
