Can't swap to background layer anymore when there is an emoji glyph in tab

Version 2.5b (1066) (actually happened in the version before as well)

Place this glyph :globe_with_meridians: in a tab (uni1F310), now if I select any glyph after the emoji glyph, and then I try to go to the background layer, the next glyph swaps to background instead. Only happens when the emoji glyph is in the tab is present.
