Sorry if it sounds a bit cold and distant, but I cannot commit to any timeline just yet. We are making progress on CFF2 and we have rough estimates of how far along we are, but you never know what might happen in the meantime that could delay the work, especially with a feature as comprehensive as this one.

If you are OK with command line tools, you can try fontmake in the meantime, it supports CFF2 variable fonts.
