Change Background Canvas Color

Hi Florian. I started with the solution on top of this thread, but it doesn’t work for me. Neither canvas nor dark mode canvas background colours change when I run that code in the macro panel.

At this point it might be best to resolve the issue over a screen sharing session. If you have time, write me a private message on this forum and we’ll figure something out.

I have been asking for this since at least 2014. I was in the audience for your talk at Barcelona atypi and I asked for this using my own human voice at that point. Amusingly, members of the audience responded before you by shouting use Robofont!. Why is this still an issue almost a decade later? It seems it is something people want, yet you seem to be resistant, does the default background colour have some sentimental value for you? Why do you think we should all have it?

What exactly are looking for. There are some colors options in Preferences. What else do you like to change?

I’m adding my voice to somebody else’s post entitled Change Background Canvas Color, and that is what I am looking for. I am well aware of the limited options that you have provided in the Preferences/Settings, and that it is possible to use a script to change the background layer canvas colour (this is not something I want to do, I think it reasonable to give this to your users via the UI)

Sorry. I didn’t remember the thread (and din’t fully read it again).

You mean the color of the background mode (that brown/orange). I’ll see what I can do.

yes, that’s the one

thanks

hello Florian: can I also use the macro panel to change the colour of the filled letter

That would be the “Foreground stroke color”, addressable in the Macro Panel as GSColorForeground.
