Color font for CMYK

I have added some coloured pictograms to a font that is principally going to be used in print. The colours ought to be defined in CMYK, which I’ve done in the colour palette that I’ve defined.
When using the font to produce a pdf and I look at the separations, the colour values do not match those that were defined in the colour palette. My guess is that svg color fonts do not support CMYK colour space and that the colours are converted.

Is that correct? Is there another way to have coloured glyphs that adhere to the defined CMYK colour values?

Thanks for any pointers!

OpenType only supports RGB for COLR/CPAL and SVG color fonts.

Thanks for confirming my guess. I take that there is no workaround?
