Combination font questions

Hi there ! It’s been a long…
I’m working on a new font project for a few months and I now need some help

My new typeface is a combination font mixing two different designs :
The default font is a Geometric Sans, and the alternate one is a Handmade Script.
I’ve designed thoses two fonts individually, because I plan to propose the fonts separately, but my goal is also to merge them into a single OTF file.
So each letter would have its Script Alternate for easily creating mixed text!

What would be the best openType feature for this purpose?
I have a slight preference for the Titling option, as it is a direct button in most design apps, but is there an other better way ?

Once I’ll set my script characters names with the .ss01 extension, I plan to copy them into the default font file. Is there any guideline or advice I must know?
And what about the opentype functions ? (There are many ligatures in the script style)

Thank you all for your help!

Use Stylistic Sets. Titling is a specific type of font which probably isn’t what you are designing here. Just my opinion though.
