Brief, non-critical question; could you clarify whether the correct name for the .glyphsTool plugin type is “Tool”, or “SelectTool”? I’m fairly certain that it’s SelectTool, based on the wrapper, but I have seen it referred to as just Tool here and there, so wanted to double check. Was wondering whether Glyphs 3 -related updates had changed this to refer more broadly to ‘any’ tool.

“Correct name” in what context? Most tool plug-ins are based on the Select tool, but you can also have a tool plug-in that is fully custom.
Was partly just for my own understanding, so I knew what was possible or correct for this plugin type. And also as I’m piecing together my own python stubs/documentation, so I can try and formalise my learnings a bit. I’m new to python (swift background) and this general notion of scripting within the bounds of an SDK like this. So wanted to get my head straight.

You can develop Glyphs plug-ins, including tools, in Swift as well.
