Consistent ink traps in a variable font

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if how it’s possible to keep ink traps consistent throughout a variable font. I want to keep a consistent ink trap of 2 points like in the 2 master weights. Problem is, when I create a brace layer to check on the instances (for example bold), the ink trap is reduced from 2 points to 0. My guess is, this has to do with the open corners, which are recommended for clean interpolation. Are there any suggestions?

…which are recommended for clean interpolation

They are recommended for correcting otherwise wrong interpolation; is it wrong if you just remove them? :slight_smile:

I thought this was mandatory. But makes sense, to remove the open corners when the OTVar Player shows a clean interpolation.
