Deleted Master, didn't save, closed the file. Master is not there on reopen.

Deleted Master2 to try something. I didn’t save and closed the file.
I got no dialog “do you want to save changes?”.
Opened the file again and the Master2 is not there.
It’s like it saved without asking when I closed the file.
I have “versions” enabled. No versions appear on the menu.

Maybe there was the autosave file still around?
