Different Kerning for masters

Hello,

I have 2 master (Regular + Bold). I have set the kerning to let’s say (-60) between “oo”.
On Regular it looks perfect, but on Bold it is too close and I would like to have a different kerning for the Bold version. Isn’t this possible?

Additionally, isn’t it possible to add arithmetics to the kerning? So I could relate to the a Glyph side bearing which is different to the Regular Master.
Example: =H/-2

Thank you

Kerning is done for each master individually, so just set different kerning in your Bold master.

Arithmetics are not possible for kerning.

You’re right. Thank and sorry. It wasn’t obvious for me.

But this brings me to the another question.
If I add some ‘new’ kerning pairs for ‘Regular’ they are not automatically added to the other master. Is there a way to automatically add them or to copy all kerning (or all missing) pairs from one master to another.

You can use the Kerning Window (Windows > Kerning) to copy pairs between masters. In your kerned master, select all and copy, then switch to another master and paste.

But usually, you do the kerning for all masters one by one.

Just make sure to fix the spacing first before you start kerning.
