Excessive anchor points when outlining in Illustrator

Hi

When I create outlines in Illustrator I get way more anchor points on my glyphs than I had in Glyphs.
What am I doing wrong?

Did you export as .ttf?

No, it’s a variable typeface.

Then it is .ttf. Converting it to TrueType and back to Cubic outlines will introduce those points.

Thanks, so a variable typeface is always TTF?

Glyphs only supports the TrueType variant. Variable fonts with cubic outlines are only very recently possible and not as widely supported, yet.
