Apologies if this has been asked before, I couldn’t find anything similar on the internet.
So I finished regular weight, and added another master, black. Now almost all the glyphs shows a warning saying “layers in this glyph are not compatible”. Fair enough, since the black layer for most glyphs are empty.
I want to export the partially done font for proofing, etc. But since most glyphs are missing the black layer, I can’t export the font. Is there any way to export the font as-is? Thanks.
Do you want to export the variable for proofing? You could uncheck the “export” tickbox next to the glyphs that are not done yet. (in the font overview just below the Right sidebearing and above the color tag of the glyph).
Following the above suggestion, the easiest way is this:
In the left sidebar, click on the filter “incompatible masters”. Select all glyphs that show up. Right-click anywhere and disable Export.
Don’t forget to update your features in Font Info > Features afterwards.
