Exporting with this option selected results in the font file being twice as large as before.
What is the cause?
This is called hinting.

Does this prompt help improve the display effect of large font size?
Ttfautohint adds a lot instructions to the font to help the rasterizer render it. But hinting is generally only really relevant for sizes up to 30–50 pixel. So probably not needed when you need it for ‘bigger’ sizes.
