Extra nodes on the stroked mask

I use an open path with the stroke setting and the mask checkbox enabled to create the inner white space of my letter. Is it possible to have two extra nodes in the places shown by the arrows instead of the one I have? I’d like to avoid expanding the stroke at this time, but I need to apply a corner component in these two places.

Running into a similar issue.
I love that you can add components to strokes’ corners.
Unfortunately, intersections’ extra nodes are not active.
