I have created a font with weights from Thin to Bold and they all work fine, but I was just experimenting with an extrapolated instance to see if it worked.
It looks OK but would need some adjustment if it were to be exported as a font. Is it possible to add this new bolder weight as a master without messing up all the interpolated instances between Thin and Bold?
Convert a single instance to a master by selecting the instance in File → Font Info… → Exports and choosing Instance as Master from the plus menu.
Ohhhhh, didn’t know that. I still went the extra miles with generating the instance and adding that. Good to know. It pays off to read the manual every half year again for new finds like that
That option has been there for as long as I can remember
Maybe I am doing this since longer than your memory is
I know that. I just wanted to know if adding a bolder extrapolated weight would have an effect on the other interpolated instances: ie change their weights or alter the outlines.
It will not have an influence on the instances between your former interpolation range. It is outside that range. However, if you remove a former master from the mix, it can have an influence.
Great. Thanks.
