It’s kind of hard to close a node, you need to have very good precision to click it.
It’d be nice for the pen tool to close nodes even when you are not that close, increasing this distance just a few pixels could help a lot.
Also, it’d be great to provide more visual feedback, such as the node getting larger, as Illustrator does:
