In the folder picker dialog, the file modification dates shown are wrong. Is this just on my computer? Where do these wrong dates come from? Over-optimization? In any case, it is rather confusing, it took me a few minutes to figure out what is going on, as I couldn’t believe that the correct folder was selected even though it clearly contradicts what Finder shows me when I look at the folder.
Which folder picker dialog is this?
@FlorianPircher The one in the Export dialogue, going by the post title.
@TimAhrens Are you using the List view in your Finder and the folder dialogue? On my system, the Finder’s List view shows the date modified by default, while the Glyphs folder shows the date added by default.
I don’t know if it’s up to Glyphs what columns are shown by default in folder picker dialogues, but if I right-click on the column headers and select so that the same columns are shown, I get the same values in the Finder and the Glyphs dialogue as well.
Thanks for the explanation, Janus! Yes, that solves the mystery. The top of the column says “Date added”. I never noticed this.
However, after exporting the fonts, and opening the export dialog again, Glyphs shows the recent date (i.e. the modified date) in the “Date added” column, the actual added date is not retained. This is probably the reason why I never noticed the column header in the first place.
When you export, the old file is deleted, a new file is created. That will cause added and modify date to be the same.
Thanks for the explanation, and sorry for the alarm. Luckily, the display of Date Added or Modified can be adjusted and it is persistent, so it is easy to fix. Just wondering why yesterday the added/modified dates differed? Maybe because the files came from a different computer?
Can’t tell. Let’s have a loot at it when it happens again.
The creation date of a file may be newer than the modification date when the file has been copied.
