Glyphs 3.5 (3522) kerning export causes crash in Affinity 3.1.0 (4231)

Affinity (3.1.0.4231 ) crashes when I use a (variable) font that has been kerned with the Glyphs 3.5 (3522) version.

After reinstalling the previous version (3517), I did not encounter the same issue.

Extra info:
– I generate kerning using the Kern-On plugin.
– I use the “Use Extension Kerning” option in the Font Info/Custom Parameters menu.
– This bug seems to be exclusive to Affinity, as I did not encounter this issue with InDesign and FontGoggles.

A crash because of a font is always the fault of the crashing app, even if the font is malformed. Could you send me the font that is causing the crash and the one that is OK?

Hello @GeorgSeifert thanks for the following.

Unfortunately, I am unable to share the font with you for confidentiality reasons, but if there is anything else I can do to help, I would be happy to assist.

Could you try to e.g. remove all names and all outlines (there is a disguiser plugin that can do this) to be able to send it?

I’m having the same issue, and additionally my GPOS is being shifted when exporting from version 3522; both issues not happening in 3517 (and the shift is only in variable, statics export GPOS fine so perhaps something with the offsets isn’t being exported correctly). I can send you two fonts from before/after but can’t post them publicly, should I send as DM or to support email?

Either is OK.

Sent, thanks!

I can reproduce the problem and could fix it.
I’ll report this to Affinitiy, too.
