Glyphs crashes when using 'trace image' feature

Since today Glyphs crashes when using the extremely useful ‘trace image’ feature. When I add an image and ‘trace image’, it won’t give me options, but goes straight in to zombie mode. I get the spinning beachball of death and have to force quit the app. It has happened 3 times in a row now and I can’t work like this.

Make that 6 times in a row now. I restarted my Mac as well. This really sucks

I have no idea why the trace function is not working - not even when I use an older version of Glyphs. It just jammed overnight. I now trace my images in Fontlab Studio and copy the traced image to Glyphs. That does work, but that can hardly be the way to go forward.

Thanks Georg, I am sorry for my frustration here, but I need to get this job done and I’m a little stressed out…

Did you send any crash reports (the one that comes up when you restart the app)?

Here’s a video. Glyphs doesn’t exactly crash: it freezes and I have to force quit, so there’s only the apple crash report and not the glyphs one

The image might be too big. Cut it in smaller pieces and try again. Could you send me that image to test this?

I have been using these images for as long as I have Glyphs, they always work. But I will try it tomorrow

Georg. I have resized the document and it doesn’t work. Then I tried just tracing one glyph at a time - that works. And that sucks, because now I will have to spend hours just tracing an image that could be traced without a problem a week ago. I have been using the same images ever since I started using glyphs and I never, ever had a problem.

I don’t use the trace image plugin on a regular basis, but it seems to be broken since a couple of cutting edge versions for me too, with images that worked before.

I did fix a few problems with the Trace plugin., yesterday. But I couldn’t reproduce the crash.
As it does seem to do with the image, could you send me on that causes a crash for you?

Thanks for the file. I fixed it and the update is up (it is a cutting edge version, for now).
