Hinting for font with wide variation in stem width

For example, http://westspacejournal.org.au this masthead is a single font with each glyph being a logo. If I wanted at least to do get some basic stem widths for autohinting, how should I go about this? There’s roughly 16 different style and weights in there.

But I wonder if I haven’t drawn this font specifically for screen and my understanding is that it will look good on all OS X systems, for PC however I don’t know whether I should even just add a couple of manual hints?

Them hints are there to make sure that all similar stems are rendered equal. As you don’t have similar stems, you do not need them. I would try without hinting and stems. Maybe add some ghost hints to align some edges.
