How do I make a textured OTF font?

Hey there,

I am wondering how OTF files, NOT “SVG” textured fonts are made? I have seen a couple of fonts with very textured brush fonts with .otf and .ttf font format? Is that even possible?

You can create outline variations and do a pseudo-random OT feature.

Or you can create hatching effect.

And then there are Colour fonts, so you can combine layers of outlines.
