Import font, rename/exclude glyphs

Hello, I would like to use the Import Font parameter, but rename glyphs while importing them (something like *.sc=*). Or choose which glyphs I want to import, because I actually only want to import the capitals from the other font.

Or, at the very least, set some glyphs to non-exporting in the target project, because I am now importing lots of glyphs that I don’t want to export in the target font. Adding a “Remove Glyphs” parameter for all those glyphs in each instance seems rather clunky. Any other ideas?

My current workaround is:

  • Add “Import Font” parameter
  • Un-lock all glyphs that I want to set to non-exporting
  • Set them to non-exporting

Why not disable them in the source font?

Two possible workarounds if that is not possible:

  1. copy the glyphs directly, without the parameter.
  2. have the glyphs you don’t want as empty non-exporting glyphs in the target font. The parameter will not import existing glyphs.

Yes, the second option is what I’m doing (well, I keep the outlines, but essentially I’m just using them as placeholder glyphs to block the import).

I need to have my source project untouched, so I can’t just disable export there.

That seem like a useful feature but requires some work. I’ll put it on the list.
