Hi! I’m producing a Variable font with a Mono axis ranging from 1- 100.
There are Mono masters that don’t have kerning (Mono = 1) and Masters at Mono 33 and Mono 100 that do have kerning.
The static fonts export fine, but the variable font adds kerning to the Mono and even changes 0 values in the Black weight to the kerning values of the Thin weight. I only tested with the pair “Tw” (static font = black, variable font = red/green). What is happening?
I send you the glyphs file @GeorgSeifert ![]()
I guess I’m having a similar problem with kerning in my variable font. I’m also getting some weird kerning in places it shouldn’t be. Mostly the black weight. And I also send u @GeorgSeifert the glyphs file. Thanks for checking it out.
hi peeps! did you already get a chance to check it out @GeorgSeifert? There is a release coming up and I’m afraid that finding a work-around will take a lot of time.
Which master is your Variable Font Origin? Does setting that to the monospaced master help?
The VFO was at 100. I tested setting it to 1 (Mono) and the result was exactly reversed. No kerning in the Mono, but also no kerning in the Proportional masters.
I did a very quick test with new project and a Mono axis with 3 masters at the same position as the original project (please don’t judge the lovely drawing haha). Exporting the VF from the latest cutting edge version the kerning gets’s messed up. Exporting from the latest stable version everything looks correct.

It’s fixed in v3523! Thank you @GeorgSeifert
