Kerning Issue in Microsoft Office 2011

Hello there,

I’m working on my first font using Glyph.
I’ve set up all my side bearings and made all my kerning groups.
The exported OTF font works just fine in Adobe Illustrator & InDesign but it seems that all the kerning groups I’ve made are not showing in Microsoft Word 2011.

I’ve been through quite a few of your topics :
• I’ve added a Kern feature in the Font Info
• I’ve created a Liga F_H feature
• I’ve cleaned up the font cache
• I’ve tried to copy/paste existing kerning pairs from an other font
• …
Unfortunately, none of this has made my font work with Microsoft Word.

Could you help me out please ?
Thank you.

Kerning and Office are no friends. Do you see any kerning?

You should not add a kern feature to Font Info. This is only need for special cases like context kerning.

Can you send the .glyphs file and the .otf file to “info at this domain”?

When I tested things it seemed that MS Word does not apply kerning if there are any unencoded glyphs (i.e. glyphs without Unicode value) in the font. Maybe that is the case? Assigning PUA values for these did the trick for me.

As far as I am concerned, you have to activate kerning in Office applications. Default is off (up to a certain point size) I think.
