Master for letters

Hi there

I have a font with two masters(thin & black).
I’m experiencing that the bar in the “e” and the joint in the “n”, becomes too thin the regular instance. Is there a way to make a regular master only for those letters where I can correct that? Or is there a smarter way to do it?

Thanks

I think this could maybe help you :slightly_smiling_face:

You need an Intermediate layer:

Thank you so much. That seems like exactly what I want to. But I don’t think the guide is very clear. Does anyone know if there exists a video tutorial somewhere?

What exactly are you struggling with?

Essentially, what you want to do:

  • Go to your Thin layer.
  • Duplicate it (there’s a + button in the bottom of the layer panel).
  • Right-click on the newly created copy of the layer and select “Intermediate”.
  • Enter a value at which you wish this new layer to sit on each axis. This is like defining a new master and entering a new axis value for this master.
  • Right-click on the layer and click “Re-interpolate”.

You can now edit the outlines in your newly created intermediate layer.

Thank you for the clarification. This description made it much easier. Thanks
