Regarding the maximum length of a font name the advice is “if you do care about legacy compatibility: early PostScript interpreters cannot have more than 29 (yes, twenty-nine) characters”. But what is early? When I make a typeface with font names of 40 characters, will it work properly with computers, printers and software that was published - let’s say - later than 2010?
Typically yes. Impossible to give you a guarantee for all third-party software around.
You will run into a bunch of other issues, though. Like font menus that are too small for displaying your name. Make sure you test in all apps you or your users care about.
Thanks, I am going to test it extensively.
