Naming for family grouping in FontAgent

My company recently started using FontAgent for font management. I have a large (68 styles) variable font family. The individual instances (.otf) are not being grouped correctly when added to FontAgent. I would like all styles to be grouped under one family. It seems to me that FontAgent uses Font Family Name (Name ID 1) to create its family groups. Only the 4 style linked RIBBI styles are getting grouped into a family and what should be a single family is split out into many families in FontAgent.
Is FontAgent wrong in its use of ID 1 for family grouping and should they be using ID 16 & 17 instead? This seems like the intended function of ID 16 according to the spec. If that’s correct I can request a change from the FA developers.
If that doesn’t work Is there a way to force all ID 1 family names to be the same for exported fonts?

No, because you can only have a maximum of 4 fonts with the same ID1 (RIBBI).

This is a wrong behaviour on FA’s side, I would notify them about it.
