Newb: testing glyphs

Hello, I’m fairly new to type design & Glyphs.app, so forgive me if this is a silly question

I’m wondering if there’s a way to try my font live within Glyphs. So far all I’ve seen is (1) the live preview of the current glyph, and (2) choosing an entire sample text.

FontForge has a great feature called the Metrics Window (http://fontforge.org/metricsview.html) which allows you to type freeform characters and see their glyphs (and even adjust L/R bearings).

It would be awesome if there’s a way to do this in Glyphs. I would like a way to quickly play around with a handful of glyphs.

Thanks!

Choose the text tool (T) and start typing. And to learn how to adjust the metrics, see the Spacing tutorial video on the Getting Started > Tutorials page. You may want to take a look at the other videos as well. have fun!

Oh, perfect, thanks! I simply missed the fact that I could type letters while in the Text tool.

And you can use Cmd+F to input characters that you can’t type.
