Non-Regular Variable Font Origin app

Hi, I have a font that uses a the master “Medium” as a variable font origin (I don’t have a regular master". I specify “My Font Variable” with a Localized Family Name custom parameter. However, when I export the variable font, “Medium” is appended to the family name: “My Font Variable Medium”. Is there a way to remove the appended without adding a Regular master and setting it as origin?

What do you have as the name of the variable instance setting?

Text NameID 1 and 2 should represent the font as it would be without the variable parts. So they contain the “Medium”. But you will never see that in apps that support variable fonts.
