NULL not exporting with unicode 0000

NULL used to export with the unicode 0000.

But unicode 0000 is not valid and useful. So not setting it is an improvement ;).

Hi, according to Microsoft Specification null should have this unicode, Is this not really needed? @GeorgSeifert could you please tell something more about this?

Thanks in advance!

The null glyph is not needed. There was a very old recommendation to add it but that is not there any more. As long Iā€™m making font it was not needed. Or can you point me to the spec you mentioned?

Thanks for the info. This is the spec https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/typography/opentype/otspec170/recom#first-four-glyphs-in-fonts

Best.

This is an outdated version of the OpenType spec. Look at the current one:

You see, only .notdef is left.

Thanks a lot!
